ITINERARIES CITTA' DEL VATICANO The Vatican City (Status Civitatis Vaticanę) is an independent European state under the authority of the Pope of the catholic Church whom exercises the power of an absolute monarchy, even if the main actions of government are taken by the Cardinal Secredtary of State. With a surface of nearly 0,44 kmq, in the urban texture of Rome, on the right side of the river of the Tevere, the Vatican is the smallest independent state of the world, in terms of population and in territorial extension.
